What is a Power Transfer Seat?

The power transfer seat from Freedom Motors allows you to shift from your wheelchair into the driver or front passenger seat in your wheelchair accessible van or wheelchair accessible SUV with minimal effort. It uses the vehicle’s original captain’s chair, mounted on a powered track system that moves forward and backward with a remote control.

Freedom Motors USA is one of the only manufacturers that designs and builds its own power transfer seat in house, a U.S. made system designed specifically for real-world mobility needs. Our exclusive seat also swivels nearly 180 degrees and travels back more than 48 inches, giving you more flexibility to line up comfortably with your wheelchair and complete the transfer to become an independent driver.

Here’s how it works:

The seat slides back into the second row to meet your wheelchair.
You transfer into the seat.
Then, with the push of a button, the seat swivels and moves back into position behind the steering wheel.

Which Vehicles Can Be Fitted with a Power Transfer Seat?

A Freedom Motors power transfer seat works best in vehicles with enough room in the second row to accommodate the sliding track. While not every vehicle is a fit, several of our most popular rear entry wheelchair accessible vans and wheelchair accessible SUVs can be equipped with one.
